Gilbane Building Co. has appointed Ted Holt, a seasoned industry veteran, as the division leader for its Mid-Atlantic offices, a move announced by the contractor on April 2nd. Holt, who has been with the Providence, Rhode Island-based firm since 2012, will now oversee operations across four key locations: Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Newark, New Jersey.

Holt initially joined Gilbane as vice president and business unit leader for the Maryland office. Over the years, he climbed the ranks, earning a promotion to senior vice president in 2021. By 2023, he had taken on the responsibility of overseeing both the Baltimore and Washington offices. During his tenure, Holt played a pivotal role in driving the firm's growth in the region, including spearheading the relocation to its current office in downtown Baltimore. Under his leadership, the Baltimore office's revenue tripled, contributing significantly to Gilbane's position as the second-largest builder in the Baltimore region.

Some notable projects Holt has been involved in include upgrades at M&T Bank Stadium, home of the NFL's Baltimore Ravens, the redevelopment of the University of Maryland Cole Field House, the modernization of the Enoch Pratt Free Library's central location in Baltimore, and a pioneering public-private partnership involving six buildings in the Prince George's County Public Schools system.

Paul J. Choquette III, regional president of Gilbane's Mid-Atlantic division, expressed confidence in Holt's leadership abilities, citing his track record in the Baltimore-Washington corridor and commitment to client success. Choquette emphasized the company's excitement about leveraging Holt's leadership across the entire Mid-Atlantic footprint.

Before joining Gilbane, Holt spent close to two decades as the director of building construction at Davis Construction, based in Rockville, Maryland. He holds a bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of Maryland and a master's degree in the same field from Arizona State University.
